This position is responsible for training of clinical staff in ICD-10-CM coding standards and guidelines. Adherence to these guidelines when assigning ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes is required under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The MRA IV is responsible for conducting compliance and monitoring of the diagnostic database for Murdoch's campus, ensuring proper and accurate ICD 10 coding assignments to all patient diagnoses for proper billing for admission stay, as well as ensuring accurate and current coding on both the Affinity system and Clintegrity.

The MRA IV provides oversight of assignments and data entry of accurate codes/procedure based in current coding rules, regulations; periodic assessments/analysis of diagnostic information; and compilation of pertinent statistical data as requested. This position maintains a caseload of approximately 38 persons processing Person Centered Plans, filing, auditing quantitative/qualitative analyses; assists in planning/implementing of automated health information procedures including alternative record storage (scanning), record tracking, computerized patient record and other automation plans. The MRA IV conducts record audits and ensures compliance for the Quality Committee, and serves as an integral component to the CIM Management Team.

This position reports to the Medical Records Manager I and works a schedule of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must have the following demonstrated abilities as demonstrated through past work experience: Prior experience in Health Information Management (medical records) in preferably a developmental disability setting Experience as a records analyst with inpatient and outpatient records ICD-10-CM, DSM IV, and CPT V coding experience Formal training in Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology Demonstrated knowledge of Client Information Technology/Administration Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Previous supervisory experience Proven ability to teach staff of various levels effectively Experience with computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power point, etc.) Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with difficult situations Works independently Seek and implement efficient processes or alternatives that meet standards or improve operations/work flow Management Preferences: Graduation from 2-year college with degree in Health Information Technology; CPC (Certified Professional Coders) credentials; and/or five (5) or more years' experience in medical records department in a Developmental Disability setting with a minimum of 5 years ICD-10-CM, DSM IV, and CPT V coding experience in a developmental disability setting with Affinity/HEARTS database experience; demonstrated teaching/training skills.

Physical Requirements: Specific ADA requirements will be discussed during interview; however, position does requires the lifting of at least 20lbs, periodic walking, and the ability to sit for extended periods. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
