Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Infectious Disease physician to join a collegial department. Position is 100% Infectious disease. The physician will provide patient care in the clinic and hospital settings and also provide physician leadership for Infection Control and Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship. MCHS NWWI Eau Claire is a fully integrated care system where hospital and clinic are located in the same building and also are run by a single governing structure thus helping to facilitate care coordination and patient follow-up. In this setting physicians will:
Examine and treat patients with infectious diseases
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations
Perform hospital consultations
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Provide physician leadership to support Infection Prevention and Control initiatives
Provide Physician leadership to support Antimicrobial Stewardship
Hospital Practice: Consultations/Follow ups, no admissions. There is a large variety of infections: Endocarditis, orthopedic infections, pneumonias, zoonotic diseases, complicated soft tissue infections, endemic mycoses, tick-borne diseases. Minority of transplant-related infections. Occasionally AIDS patients.
Clinic Practice: Post-hospital follow ups, travel clinic, and referrals from other physicians. We have IV antibiotic infusion center at our clinic. 2 skilled RNs supporting our practice in clinic.
IPAC and Antimicrobial Stewardship: Infection control with a group of 4 RN trained in infection control. Antimicrobial stewardship program with Pharmacy. No antimicrobial approval calls.
