Pediatric Genetics Faculty Positions - Upstate New York

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is recruiting two medical geneticists to join the Division of Pediatric Genetics which will be expected to have four MD faculty geneticists, 5 genetic counselors, a biochemical nutritionist, a nurse and a social worker.
The University of Rochester is a major genetics service provider in upstate New York. Our highly successful and active primary clinical programs include a New York State-designated Clinic of Inborn Metabolic Disorders, a number of General Pediatric Genetics Clinics, an In-patient Pediatric Genetics Consultative Service, as well as a number of collaborative clinical programs such as Ocular Genetics clinic, Craniofacial Team Clinic, a Cardiogenetics Clinic as well as a number of other specialty clinics currently under development. The Division of Pediatric Genetics also collaborates with a number of allied genetics programs in adult medical genetics, neurogenetics, cancer genetics, and prenatal and reproductive genetics. The Division also has robust education programs that caters to a variety of trainees. It also has ongoing research efforts in ocular genetics, nutrition genetics and clinical trials for inborn errors of metabolism
With the continued expansion of our clinical, academic and research programs, we will be able to accommodate a wide range of career interests, including biochemical genetics, clinical genetics, craniofacial genetics and laboratory or clinical research. Successful candidates are expected to share the clinical responsibilities of the Division of Pediatric Genetics and other core missions of the Division. Candidates interested in spending significant amount of time in research will be evaluated based on past accomplishment and potential for achieving independent funding, and the amount of time protected for research will be determined accordingly. Although an academic center where research is encouraged, candidates with purely clinical/educational interests are also welcome to apply.

The position will entail an academic appointment at the Senior Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should have an MD or MD-PhD degree and be BC/BE in Medical Genetics (Clinical Genetics and/or Clinical Biochemical Genetics), and be eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
