America's Veterans need you! The Salem VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia is seeking a full-time Physician (Psychiatrist) to work in the Mental Health Services. The Psychiatrist provides a broad spectrum of psychiatric treatment and will serve as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team in managing an inpatient/outpatient panel. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00AM- 4:30PM; with minimal on call duties Relocation incentive: Not authorized Recruitment incentive: Not authorized Permanent Change of Station(PCS): Not authorized Education Debt Reduction Program(EDRP): Authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required The primary duties of the Psychiatrist include: Psychiatric assessment; Psychiatric diagnosis; Psychiatric treatment planning; Participation in Physician Peer Review; Provide supervision to medical students, residents, and physician assistants as assigned; Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders; Orders diagnostic tests and consultations, and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions; May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned; Practice within the scope of assigned privileges; Work effectively with patients, families, staff, coworkers and other health care professionals; Participate in an effective clinical program with attention to patient outcome indicators. VA physicians earn up to an additional 7.5% of their salary (not to exceed $15K) in annual physician performance pay. Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. No physician employment contracts and no significant restrictions on moonlighting. Regular pay increases to include biennial longevity increases, annual cost of living increases (when signed into law), and biennial reviews of physician market pay. One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory is accepted at this facility. 49 Days paid time off per year (26 days paid annual leave, 13 days paid sick leave, 10 paid federal holidays). Pension plan - vested in pension annuity after only 5 years' service.- 401K-type plan (Thrift Savings Plan) with matching contributions.
