The Physician is directly accountable to the subspecialty section chief in Medical Service and will spend most of the time providing inpatient/outpatient consultation, performing EMG's, and reading NVC's. The incumbent may also be assigned to perform other clinical duties as assigned within the Medicine service. The Physician assigned to the Medical Service will be responsible for: Adhering to all established Center policies and procedures and VA Directives, Demonstrating leadership and accomplishment when providing support to the section chief and Chief of Medicine, as well as to representatives of various department/services within the VA organization, Implementing and complying with administrative review of the services operations to assure compliance with all internal and external review requirements, Clinical management of patients, which may include skills necessary for the stabilization of acute complications and may include the initiation of basic life support, Patient education, which is primarily provided in an interactive setting and requires good interpersonal skills, Accountable for all clinical duties and assignments deemed necessary by the Subspecialty section NOS section chief as well as the Chief of Medicine. The incumbent may also be assigned to perform other clinical duties as assigned within the Medicine service. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30, schedule may vary based on the needs of the service and are subject to change. On call duties may be required.
