This Job Opportunity Announcement will be used to fill one (1) Physician (Hematologist/Oncologist), VM-0602-15 position within Acute Care Service with the Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System. This announcement will be opened continuously until it is filled. Applicants who submit a package by Monday, October 26, 2020 will be given first review. A new review will be done once weekly thereafter. A recruitment or relocation bonus may be offered to highly qualified applicants. Education Debt Reduction Program may be offered. A hematologist-oncologist is an internist who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and/or prevention of disorders and cancers that affect the blood, bone marrow and immunologic, hemostatic and vascular systems. May treat for iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia and lymphoma. May specialize in the management of solid tumors. Duties include, but are not limited to: Direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Provide diagnosis and treatment of diseases to adult patients presenting with illnesses and injuries applicable to his/her practice, training, experience or current competence. Provide treatment of general medical disease and disorders in an outpatient setting, provide consultation services in an inpatient setting or emergent need. Perform minor procedures per credentialing and privileging approvals.. Order routine diagnostic imaging studies and labs. Participate actively in performance improvement and attend assigned meetings or process action teams. Work collaboratively with other specialties. Follow VA directives and polices and maintains current in Basic Life Support (BLS). Possess computer skills to access and input typed data on each patient into the computerized patient record system (CPRS). Outpatient clinic may be held at the West Campus, Montgomery, Alabama and/or the East Campus, Tuskegee, AL and provide consultation services to all other VA clinics under Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) catchment. Provides direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate. Establishes professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed. Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to veterans in need of hematology-oncology services. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
