The Pulmonologist is responsible for patient care, patient/family education, and participation in any indicated clinical research in pulmonary medicine. The pulmonologist provides comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of pulmonary medicine/sleep spectrum as noted in privileges granted . The scope of these activities covers all phases of ambulatory care. Other responsibilities may include education of medical students and residents and/or supervision of other providers. The majority of the pulmonologist's time is devoted to patient care and education, with the remaining time set aside for performance improvement activities, creative research to improve patient care, activities sufficient to maintain proficiency in state-of-the-art pulmonary care. Most of the work will take place at one campus of VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend HCS (VCB), and some travel may be required to meet the needs at various sites of VCB. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or as agreed upon with the possibility of extended hours and weekends. NOTE: Candidates must be willing to work weekends, irregular work hours and extended hours. The candidate must be willing to be assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Note: This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Physician Total Rewards Brochure Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 26 days paid annual leave (carryover up to 86 days), 13 days paid annual sick leave (unlimited carryover), 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory and you can practice anywhere in VHA. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting and no restrictive covenants.
