Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides patient care in the Urology section, mainly as inpatient and procedural outpatient urology care provider. Possesses knowledge specific to urology in order to review consults and identify appropriate pre-testing. Provides peri-operative care for surgical patients, including but not limited to: surgery scheduling, initiating consults, history and physicals, patient admission, ward care orders. Provides inpatient care, discharges patient, provides follow up care and appointments. Assisting with management of post urologic procedure patients. Supports the attending Urologists, primary care department, outlying clinics, inpatient wards, CLC and emergency department with recommendations, treatment and disposition of urologic patients. Prescription of medications within the defined scope of practice. Coordinates care within the assigned medical facility as well as with specialists and ancillary services in the community. Participating in interdisciplinary committees/discussions pertaining to Urology (i.e. Multidisciplinary tumor board, clinical conferences, etc.) Initiates and responds to requests for consultations, special tests, and studies. Serves as an expert in clinical practice and demonstrates outcomes at the program and practice level. Guides staff in the application of critical thinking and process improvement to improve patient care. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M., however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center.
